They can be either full dentures, replacing all the teeth in one or both arches, or partial dentures, replacing only a few missing teeth while fitting around existing natural teeth.
Here’s how removable dentures work:

Full Dentures: Full dentures consist of a flesh-colored acrylic base that fits over your gums. The upper denture covers the roof of your mouth (palate), while the lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to accommodate the tongue.

Partial Dentures: Partial dentures have a similar acrylic base but also include metal or plastic clasps that attach to your remaining natural teeth, providing stability and support.

The process of getting dentures typically involves:

Impressions: Your dentist takes impressions of your mouth to create accurate molds for your dentures.

Try-In: A wax model of the denture is made for you to try on. This allows for adjustments to the fit, color, and appearance before the final dentures are made.

Final Fitting: Once adjustments are made, the final dentures are fabricated and fitted.

Removable dentures offer a cost-effective solution for replacing missing teeth. They can improve chewing abilities, speech, and facial appearance. However, some people may find them less stable than other tooth replacement options like dental implants.
